Where to stay on Nusa Penida: choose an area first
Match the base to the trip before being persuaded by the pool photograph.

For a short Nusa Penida stay, choose an area by comparing your arrival harbour, the coast you want to explore and access to meals. Then compare individual properties. This is an area-selection guide, not a list of hotels we have tested or a promise that one neighbourhood suits every visitor.
Make arrival and departure visible
Pin the harbour specified on your boat booking and the accommodation address on the same map. Ask the property how guests normally arrive and what a transfer includes. An appealing room can become less convenient if each luggage journey requires a route you did not budget for.
If you have an early return crossing, ask what departure arrangements are possible. Do not assume that a reception desk can always organise a vehicle at short notice. Keep the operator and accommodation instructions together so the last morning has fewer moving parts.
A harbour-side base for a short visit
The official island guide identifies Toyapakeh and Sampalan as arrival harbours. A property near your actual arrival point may simplify a brief stay, but “near the port” needs a precise address. Confirm walking access, road access and whether a transfer is still needed with luggage.
Read recent guest comments for practical information about sleep, steps and meals rather than judging only by a room’s view. Check whether the room category in the photograph is the one being sold. A useful question about noise or stairs can prevent a disappointing booking.
A base closer to your preferred coast
If you want a slower eastern or western day, compare properties nearer that route. Discuss the sightseeing pickup and return with a driver before deciding that the location will save time. A straight-line distance on the map is not a road journey estimate.
Check what is available after the day’s sightseeing: dinner, drinking water and an easy way back to the room. A remote-looking setting can be exactly what you want, but it should be a deliberate choice with transport arranged rather than an accidental evening inconvenience.
Choose by your actual routine
List three essentials such as a quiet room, minimal steps or somewhere to eat without another drive. Use those to compare a small set of properties. Then review cancellation terms, the complete price and how the property communicates before committing.
Hostel or hotel searches becoming popular do not establish a tested recommendation. If you are considering a specific venue, check its own current information and recent guest feedback. The best base for this trip is the one that connects your route, your rest and your departure without unnecessary friction.
Considering The Farm Nusa Penida?
The Farm Nusa describes itself as a social hostel with dorm accommodation, a café and bar, and a late-night venue. Those are the operator’s descriptions; we have not tested a stay there. If quiet evenings matter to you, ask about the room’s position, sound from shared areas and the schedule for your dates before booking.
Use the Nusa property’s own website when checking arrangements: The Farm Hostel Canggu is a different location on mainland Bali. Confirm the exact address, transfers, room type and what the rate includes. Ask whether any facility important to your booking is currently open, rather than treating a general promotional list as a guarantee.
